PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon advertising company is getting some help from Google to encourage high-tech startups in Portland.
The Portland Incubator Experiment by Wieden+Kennedy is attracting applications from around the country. And now Google has pledged to add some mentors to the project to help tech startups make the most of their ideas.
The Silicon Valley company joins W+K clients Nike, Coke and Target to bring high-tech experience to the effort.
The Oregonian reports that Google’s participation could attract a different category of startup than the consumer brands the incubator project had been featuring, so organizers plan to push the application deadline for its first “class” of startups back one week to August 8.
