ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Rex Grossman vs. John Beck battle for the Washington Redskins starting quarterback job is about to get under way.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday that Grossman would arrive at Redskins Park later in the day.

Grossman was an unrestricted free agent at the end of the NFL lockout, but the Redskins said all along they planned to re-sign him to compete with Beck.

Shanahan says Grossman had not yet signed, but: “If he’s going to be in here tonight, there’s a good chance that he will be.”

Grossman can’t practice until Thursday under the league’s post-lockout rules.

He started the final three games last season after Donovan McNabb was benched.
