PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A water main break has flooded some homes in a Portland neighborhood, near 68th and Halsey.

Portland Fire and Rescue says water began bubbling out of the street about 4 a.m. Wednesday and flowing into basements.

Firefighters responded to drain away water. Northwest Natural Gas was called to shut off gas in homes with furnaces in the basement.

Water Bureau crews are repairing the break. Spokeswoman Terry Black says residents in an eight-block area may experience low water pressure and discolored water.
