With schools starting in a few weeks, Clark County Public Health is reminding parents to schedule their children for back-to-school immunizations.

Several immunizations are required before children can attend public school or child care.

For a complete list of required and recommended immunizations, visit immunizations.

Requirements for exempting children from vaccines changed July 22. Providers must now sign a certificate of exemption or letter verifying they provided information about vaccines to parents. The letter must be turned into the school or child care center.

Immunizations for children younger than 19 are free through Washington’s Childhood Vaccine Program. Charges for office visits or administration fees might apply.

Free or low-cost immunizations for children and teens also are offered Wednesdays at Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, 4100 Plomondon St., 360-313-1390, and by appointment at Sea Mar Community Health Center, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., 360-852-9070.
