SEATTLE (AP) — One man was critically injured in a three-alarm fire in Seattle at a motel that serves as housing for mostly low-income people.
Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore says the man in his 50s lives in the unit where the fire started about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ontario motel, near Boeing Field. He had stopped breathing. Firefighters performed CPR and took him to Harborview Medical Center.
Another person with a chronic illness went to a hospital, and three others with medical conditions such as high blood pressure were advised to go to a hospital.
Moore says the fire went to three alarms because of the risk of it spreading. The three-story building has 54 residents in 40 units. The Red Cross is helping the displaced.
