PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A 12-year-old girl who was struck by a car while crossing the street to check the family mailbox has died at a Portland hospital.
The Oregon State Police say Kayla Campos died at Oregon Health and Science University Thursday morning.
The girl was trying to cross Oregon Route 211 on Tuesday afternoon when she was struck by a car.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
