Thursday, August 4, 2011
Insitu Inc. announced Thursday that it has introduced a helicopter-like unmanned aircraft system to its lineup of aerial drones.
The Inceptor will provide real-time video and images to police and medical personnel responding to public safety incidents. It is compact enough to fit in the trunk of a car and can tolerate sustained winds and wind gusts, Bingen-based Insitu said.
The rotorcraft weighs less than four pounds, hovers quietly for more than 20 minutes and can patrol at speeds up to 24 miles per hour.
