LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man accused of using an expired boarding pass with someone else’s name to get a free cross-country flight has agreed to plead guilty to a stowaway charge.
A plea agreement obtained Friday shows that 24-year-old Olajide Oluwaseun Noibi will enter his plea in federal court next week and pay $942 to Virgin America for the cost of the flight from New York to Los Angeles.
Noibi, who has dual U.S. and Nigerian citizenship, faces up to five years in prison.
His June 29 arrest at Los Angeles International Airport sparked security concerns after it was determined that he got past screenings using expired boarding passes with someone else’s name and presenting his student identification.
According to the agreement, prosecutors did not find that terrorism applied to this case.
