KENT, Wash. (AP) — Fire officials in the south Seattle suburb of Kent say a man was struck and killed by a train Friday night.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas confirms a pedestrian was killed by a northbound Amtrak train at the West James Street crossing about 9:20 p.m.

The victim was not immediately identified.

The death is still under investigation but KOMO says witnesses told investigators the man appeared to have misjudged the amount of time he had to cross the tracks.
