Proposed arboretum’s open house is Sunday

The Columbian

Vancouver — An open house is scheduled noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at a county property along the Columbia River that backers hope will someday be a public arboretum.

The potential E. Jane Weber Arboretum contains an old home — the oldest in Clark County, built by a Hudson’s Bay Co. employee — and has been privately owned for decades. Its last owners willed the property to Clark County and its foundation; now the groups are trying to decide what to do with it and soliciting help in both achieving the vision and maintaining the property in the meantime.

The arboretum is at 9215 S.E. Evergreen Highway.
