Washington County deputy recovering from stabbing

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A Washington County sheriff's deputy is recovering after being stabbed with a pencil by a jail inmate.
Sgt. Dave Thompson tell The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/nLlkeW ) the deputy was treated for multiple puncture wounds to his face after an inmate snuck up on him on Sunday afternoon.
The deputy was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and related.
Authorities say some inmates came to the deputy's aid during the attack. Thompson says an inmate awaiting trial for attempted murder is responsibile for the attack.
