BANGOR, Wash. (AP) — Four nuclear weapons protesters have been arrested, cited and released at the main gate of Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor on Washington’s Hood Canal. The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/n4d3vK) the demonstrators were taking part in an annual event commemorating the anniversaries of the World War II atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Leonard Eiger of the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action says the four lifted a large inflatable missile over a barricade Monday and swung it across the road to try to block traffic. State troopers intervened.

The four were processed at the scene and released after being given citations for blocking the roadway.
