OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Ricky Williams has passed his physical and is practicing with the Baltimore Ravens for the first time.

Wearing No. 38 Tuesday instead of his customary 34, Williams began his tenure with the Ravens working on a side field with a coach.

Williams agreed to terms on a two-year deal Monday, pending him passing his physical. He is expected to serve as the backup to running back Ray Rice.

The former Heisman Trophy winner played last season with the Miami Dolphins. He ran for 673 yards and two touchdowns while splitting time with Ronnie Brown.

The 34-year-old Williams was wooed by the Ravens and Detroit Lions before finally choosing a team with more potential to reach the playoffs. He replaces Willis McGahee, who was cut before the start of training camp.
