The KFC restaurant at 8302 E. Mill Plain Blvd. closed permanently Tuesday, said Scott Dickinson, owner of Dickinson Northwest Inc., a Vancouver-based chain of KFC restaurants since the 1960s.

Dickinson said slow sales and “difficult economic conditions” forced the decision to close the Mill Plain location, which opened in 1979. The company operates seven other KFC restaurants, two of which are located within two miles of the closed venue.

The closed restaurant’s staff of 14 employees will transfer to jobs at the chain’s other KFC locations. Dickinson expects to sell the half-acre restaurant site and building.
