Letter: Beacock’s contributions unmatched
Wednesday, August 10, 2011
As I opened The Columbian on Aug. 5, I read the tragic news of a dear musical friend, Dale Beacock (“Beacock Music founder killed in cycling accident”). I am saddened by his tragic death and will always cherish the memories. The Columbian stated it so well: “He was an influential figure in the region’s music scene.”
Beacock was the director of the band that played many an accompaniment for me singing “The National Anthem” at Clark College ball games and other functions here in Clark County. He was a delight to rehearse with at Beacock’s Music and at Clark College and other functions where I had the honor to sing with him. He always had a smile on his face, and when I would ask about his lovely children, Gayle and Russ, there would be an added smile.
Forever in my heart as I journey through life with music, I will always remember my dear singing moments with Beacock. There will never be another musician in Clark County like Dale Beacock.
