Newcomers swapping licenses decline in July

The number of people who swapped out-of-town driver’s licenses for Clark County issues dropped 17.7 percent in July compared with the same month last year, the Washington Department of Licensing reported this week.

There were 1,382 driver’s licenses exchanged for local ones in July, down from 1,680 licenses issued in July 2010, but up from the 1,026 handed out this June.

In the seven months ending July 31, a total 7,959 drivers swapped their licenses for new ones in Clark County, down about 4.3 percent from the 8,313 newcomers who exchanged licenses in the same period last year.
