PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Tigard, Ore., real estate investment manager has filed to run in the Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District seat vacated by David Wu.
Jim Greenfield, the 2002 Republican nominee in the district, tells The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/raBx5X) he is putting together a team to take on Tualatin businessman Rob Cornilles, who announced his candidacy last week. Cornilles was the GOP nominee in 2010.
In 2002, Greenfield got 34 percent of the vote in his attempt to unseat Wu.
Wu stepped down this month amid pressure from fellow Democrats following published allegations that he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with an 18-year-old woman.
Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian, state Sen. Suzanne Bonamici and state Rep. Brad Witt are seeking the Democratic nomination in the Nov. 8 primary.
