ATLANTA (AP) — Bobby Cox is finding it difficult to shake old baseball habits.

Cox, who retired last year after 29 years as a manager, including 25 with Atlanta, says he still watches every Braves game. And the man who was tossed from more games than any manager in baseball history says he still finds himself in an argumentative mood when calls go against the Braves.

Now there are no umpires around to hear his protests. “Just the wife,” Cox says with a laugh.

He’ll be back on the field Friday night when his No. 6 jersey is retired before a game against the Cubs.

The 70-year-old Cox also will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. He says he is humbled and the day will be “everything you could ask for.”
