ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have promoted right-hander Frankie De La Cruz from Triple-A Nashville to take the spot of injured lefty Chris Narveson.
The NL Central leaders purchased his contract on Thursday.
De La Cruz has not pitched in the majors since 2009. He was 7-6 with a 3.88 ERA in 23 starts for Nashville. He struck out 126 in 137 innings.
Narveson is 8-6 with a 4.49 ERA. He was placed on the disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to Aug. 7, after cutting his pitching thumb while attempting to repair his glove prior to a game against St. Louis.
