Dump truck takes down utility lines near Wapato

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- The Yakima County sheriff's office says a dump truck driver didn't realize the truck bed was elevated as he left a work site and snapped about 10 utility lines near Wapato.

The truck finally stopped Wednesday afternoon when it caught a concentrated section of lines at an intersection and brought down four utility poles. It took hours for power and phone crews to make repairs.

The driver, a 64-year-old Yakima man, was cited for negligent operation of the dump truck.
