Longview — The Lower Columbia Community Action Program will expand its Interstate 5 van service between Vancouver and Chehalis starting Monday.

The CAP will increase the number of van trips between Longview and the Salmon Creek area of Vancouver from five to six per weekday. Service between Longview and Chehalis will increase from two to four trips per weekday, the CAP said.

Service north of Chehalis to Tumwater, however, will be discontinued as of Monday. Riders can still connect to Tumwater or Centralia through the Rural/Tribal Service.

The CAP operates the public transportation service through a grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation. Riding the I-5 van is $1 each way.

The service has seen a 31 percent increase in riders between Longview and Vancouver in the past year, according to the CAP.

The CAP van schedule is available at 360-425-3430 or http://www.lowercolumbiacap.org.
