SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Oregon has a new housing director.
Gov. John Kitzhaber appointed Margaret Shepard Van Vliet to be the new director of Oregon Housing and Community Services.
Van Vliet is currently director of the Portland Housing Bureau. She has previously worked for the Housing Authority of Portland, a public corporation that provides affordable housing for people with low income, disabilities or special needs.
Oregon Housing and Community Services is the state's housing finance agency. It helps connect low- and moderate-income Oregonians with affordable housing.
