SEATTLE (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says the woman whose van overturned on Interstate 5 at Mount Vernon, ejecting her 3-month-old baby, will be cited for improper lane travel and a child seat violation and fined $248.

Trooper Keith Leary said the mother and two other children who suffered minor injuries in Thursday’s crash were with the baby Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson said the baby boy is in serious condition and improving in the intensive care unit.

The baby and the car seat flew out of the van and landed separately.

KOMO reports the mother is a 27-year-old from Surrey, British Columbia. She and two girls, who were wearing seatbelts, were treated at a Mount Vernon hospital.
