ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have placed closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list with a right triceps strain before a weekend series at St. Louis.

Jason Giambi was activated before Friday night’s game from a stint on the DL because of a strained left quadriceps. Giambi was batting .260 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs in 48 games as the backup first baseman behind Todd Helton. He was not in the lineup.

Street has 29 saves in 32 chances but has allowed runs in three of his four appearances this month along with one blown save. He’s 1-3 with a 4.06 ERA.

Manager Jim Tracy said Rafael Betancourt would serve as stand-in closer. Betancourt earned his first save of the season on Tuesday at Cincinnati and has not allowed an earned run since July 7.
