LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rookie Jantel Lavender scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a 93-90 overtime win over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night.

Lavender scored four points in the first two minutes of overtime as the Sparks (9-13) erased an early 16-point deficit and held off the Mercury.

Noelle Quinn added 19 points for the Sparks, who have won two straight. Los Angeles may get an added lift next game with the return of center Candace Parker. The former MVP who has been out since June with a knee injury, is “hopeful” to return Tuesday, a team spokesman said.

Penny Taylor led Phoenix with 29 points and Diana Taurasi added 21. The Mercury (13-10) missed a chance to move into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference.
