Giants put OF Torres on DL; recall INF Belt

MIAMI (AP) -- The San Francisco Giants have placed outfielder Andres Torres on the 15-day disabled list and recalled infielder Brandon Belt from Triple-A Fresno.

Torres was hit by a ball during Friday night's loss at Florida, resulting in a bruised right leg. The switch hitter is batting .228 with three homers in 85 games.

Carlos Beltran also was out of San Francisco's lineup with a strained right hand. He also missed the team's previous four games.

Belt joins the Giants for the fourth time this year. He was expected to arrive before Saturday night's game against the Marlins.

Belt was San Francisco's opening-day first baseman this season. He has a .218 batting average, two homers and seven RBIs in 31 games.
