Indiana State Fair stage collapses, injuring fans

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — About a dozen people are reported to have injuries after a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://bit.ly/o4LrYw ) that a storm swept through the fairgrounds Saturday night, causing the stage rigging for an outdoor concert to collapse. The newspaper reports that fans were trapped and injured in the incident shortly before 9 p.m.

Details on the conditions of those injured were not immediately known.

The country music group Sugarland was scheduled to perform at the fair. It is not clear whether that act or another was performing when the stage collapsed.

Emergency crews were called to the scene. Workers were setting up a command center to tend to those who were injured.
