Fabregas finally joins Barcelona from Arsenal

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Cesc Fabregas’ long-awaited transfer to boyhood club Barcelona finally materialized Sunday when the Spanish champion reached a preliminary agreement with Arsenal to sign the Spanish midfielder.

Barcelona says that an agreement “in principle” has been reached with the English club. The deal will be completed once Fabregas signs a contract and undergoes a medical exam.

Spanish media reports put the price of the transfer at around $57 million.

Fabregas will return to the club that nurtured him before he joined Arsenal in 2003. He went on to become Arsenal’s youngest starter a month later at 16.

Fabregas scored 57 goals in 303 appearances and won one league title and an FA Cup with Arsenal.
