EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants may have to get another placekicker in training camp.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin says placekicker Lawrence will be spending a lot of time with the team’s medical personnel after bruising his right thigh Saturday night a 20-10 loss to Carolina.

Tynes was run into by Sean Ware after the Panthers blocked his second-half field goal attempt. An MRI Sunday showed no major damage but Coughlin isn’t sure how long the kicker will be out.

Coughlin also said in his conference call that defensive end Osi Umenyiora has been cleared to practice by Giants’ doctors, but he’s not sure the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end has settled his contract issues with the team.

The Giants’ next preseason game is a week from Monday against Chicago.
