ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) -- Oregon fugitive Roy Fritts and his wife are in custody in Utah after a shooting and chase.
The Sweetwater County sheriff's office says Roy and Jessica Fritts were arrested Sunday as the pair fled a shooting in Wyoming.
Detective Dick Blust Jr. says the pair were camping with another man when a dispute arose and 54-year-old Edmund Thornell of Costa Mesa, Calif., was shot and wounded. Fritts and his 35-year-old wife were in Thornell's van when it was spotted and chased into Utah near Echo. The pair fled on foot but were arrested.
Fritts is a 33-year-old from Union, Ore., who was released from prison in June after serving time for attempted murder. He jumped parole a short time later.
Fritts and his wife were reportedly spotted Aug. 9 in a stolen car in Nebraska. They were chased by a state trooper but fled on foot and apparently got away in a stolen pickup truck.
