SALEM, Ore. (AP) — More than 1,000 people lined up Monday to apply for temporary jobs at the Oregon State Fair in Salem.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://bit.ly/phqGjQ ) the Employment Department gave yellow cards to the first 300 people in line, referring them to vendors. The next 300 got blue tickets, allowing them to return Tuesday to apply for jobs at the fair that runs from Aug 26 through Sept. 5.
Some people who waited in line went home empty handed.
