SEATTLE (AP) — The man accused of stabbing his partner and their 2-year-old son to death at their Seattle high-rise apartment has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder.

Louis C. Chen is in a hospital, and the King County prosecutor’s office said Tuesday when he’s released he’ll be jailed without bail. His arraignment is set for Aug. 29. The prosecutor will then decide whether to seek the death penalty.

Police say Chen said “I did” Thursday when they asked who stabbed him and his partner.

Officers found 29-year-old Eric Cooper and 2-year-old Cooper Chen in the apartment on Seattle’s First Hill.

Louis Chen is a 39-year-old doctor who recently moved the family to Seattle from Durham, N.C., after studying endocrinology at Duke University.
