ATLANTA (AP) — Braves third baseman Chipper Jones is not starting against the Giants after hurting his left knee while running to first base as a pinch-hitter Sunday.

Jones said he had an MRI on the knee on Monday and was relieved the test did not reveal a significant injury. He says he needed pain medication to sleep on Sunday night.

He says his knee did not buckle when he hit the first base bag in a game against the Cubs.

Jones tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Aug. 10, 2010, and had season-ending reconstructive surgery four days later.

He says he worries if he feels “a pang or a twang down there.”

Martin Prado is starting at third base in Monday night’s game against San Francisco.
