Letter: Crisis flamed by lack of compromise

The Columbian
Published: August 14, 2011, 5:00pm

The U.S. economic success or failure now belongs to the Tea Party (also know as the Republicans). In 1937 as the U.S. economy was clawing its way out of the Depression, spending was cut. The U.S. economy failed again and was only saved by World War II.

The Republicans created another crisis, the debt ceiling debate. Yet another body blow to the U.S. economy and downgrade to our AAA rating. What happened to country first?
