MILAN (AP) — A University of Washington student from Englewood, Colo. fell to her death early Saturday from a window overlooking rocky cliffs in the Italian Riviera.

Police said Monday that 20-year-old Kelly Rose Denman fell from the room where she was staying in the Cinque Terre region of northwestern Italy.

Commander Francesco Villa in the town of Vernazza said she was last seen by a friend when they returned to the room from a night out drinking. The friend was already asleep when Denman apparently perched on the window sill.

Villa said she fell 80 feet and drowned. Her body was found in the water about three hours after friends reported her missing.

UW spokesman Bob Roseth in Seattle said she would have been a junior this year.
