A 77-year-old Vancouver man was killed and three others were seriously injured on Tuesday evening after a head-on collision on Northeast Hayes Road in far-north Clark County along the North Fork of the -Lewis River.

Woodland Fire Department Chief Mike Jackson said a man was killed, a woman was flown to a hospital by Life Flight helicopter and two others were taken by AMR Northwest ambulance service.

The accident was first reported shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

An official radioed for heavy equipment to extricate two people from the smashed car, and for the medical examiner.

Officials said the accident was near Northeast 15th Avenue, several miles east of Woodland.

Names of the injured were not immediately released pending notification of family.

Speed may have been a factor in the collision, according to a news release issued by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
