Esther Short — Anytime there’s an arty event in Clark County — an opening, film festival, First Friday art walk — a bunch of new banners will help pull foot and motor traffic to the attractions. Arts of Clark County, a nonprofit group that raises and distributes funds for the arts, created and donated big black and white banners in time for Art in The Heart, the weekend festival that was held in early August in Uptown Village. Each downtown gallery received a sidewalk banner that said “ART” and the Kiggins movie theater was given a “FILM” banner. There are plans for future banners that also say “MUSIC,” “THEATER,” “DANCE” and “POETRY.” The group created 35 banners; each is worth about $130. Volunteer Terri Eiloff of North Bank Gallery gets credit for the idea; Karen Madsen of the Arts of Clark County group grabbed hold of it.
