NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) — The Port of Newport and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will dedicate the new $38 million NOAA facility on Saturday with Oregon political leaders on hand to celebrate.
Newport beat Seattle two years ago to win the Marine Operations Center for the fleet of research ships that had been based in Seattle’s Lake Union for nearly 50 years.
Port of Newport Commission President Ginny Goblirsch told The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/qLleWk ) the project was completed on time and under budget.
