SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Compliance Officer, ridden by Alex Solis, took command leaving the eighth pole and drew away to a 1 34-length victory in the $100,000 West Point Stakes for horses bred in New York on Thursday at Saratoga Race Course.
The Bruce Brown-trained 5-year-old gelding, behind the leaders to the quarter pole before moving into contention with a three-wide move, ran 1 1/16 miles over the inner turf course in 1:44.40.
Compliance Officer, whose victory was his third in four starts this year, earned $60,000 for the LaMarca Stable and paid $10, $6.30 and $4.20. Runner-up Karakorum Legend returned $11.20 and $6.70. Pocket Cowboys, third of eight, paid $3.50 to show.
