SEATTLE (AP) — The husband of a Utah woman missing for nearly two years says he welcomes the renewed search Friday in the remote mountain desert around Ely, Nev.

Joshua Powell, who now lives in Puyallup (pew-AL’-up), Wash., told KING-TV (http://bit.ly/opcGzi ) of Seattle on Thursday he was overjoyed by the news of the Nevada search. He has rarely spoken publicly about the case. He and his father have said they believe Susan Powell might have run off with another man.

The 28-year-old mother of two was last seen at their West Valley City, Utah, home in December 2009. Joshua Powell told police he left his wife at home to go winter camping with their sons — who were 4 and 2 at the time — and she was gone when they came home.
