Three people have been taken to a hospital after a car hit the rear of a box truck and went underneath it near Prairie High School.

Shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, rescuers were called to Northeast 119th Street and 132nd Avenue, said Chief Steve Wrightson with Fire District 3. Firefighters used heavy tools to cut up the car and remove a man and woman inside.

The man who drove the car was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Wrightson said he didn’t know if the injuries were life-threatening.

Also taken to a hospital were a female passenger in the car and the truck driver.

Traffic on 119th Street was being blocked between state Highway 503 and 152nd Avenue.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Also helping at the scene were the Vancouver Fire Department, Clark County Fire & Rescue and AMR Northwest, Wrightson said.
