ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) -- World high jump champion Blanka Vlasic of Croatia says she will compete at the upcoming world championships despite a leg injury.
Vlasic says that despite a partially torn muscle in her left leg, she "could not bear watching the competition on television," tearfully adding she would feel "as if someone had a party, but did not invite me."
The worlds start Aug. 27 in Daegu, South Korea. The women's high jump is scheduled for Sept. 3.
Vlasic has dominated the women's high jump since earning the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
