ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels recalled outfielder Mike Trout from Double-A Arkansas on Friday and optioned right-hander Horacio Ramirez to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Trout, who turned 20 on Aug. 7, played in 14 games with the Angels last month after getting promoted from Double-A because of an injury to center fielder Peter Bourjos. Trout was 7 for 43 with a homer and six RBIs before being sent down. He was the team’s first-round draft pick in 2009.

The Angels are off Monday and Thursday, so manager Mike Scioscia will need only 11 pitchers during the next 112 weeks. Right-hander Jerome Williams, who hadn’t pitched in the majors since May 15, 2007, is to start Sunday’s series finale against Baltimore. He faced three batters in his Angels debut against Texas on Wednesday.
