RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Energy Department has authorized Hanford cleanup contractors to lay off up to 1,000 more workers in the fiscal year that starts Oct. 1 because of budget reductions.
The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/r40TQw) that’s in addition to nearly 2,000 layoffs announced this year at the nuclear reservation as federal stimulus money runs out.
