Police continue Nevada search for missing Utah mom

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah police say they plan a second search of the rugged mountains near Ely., Nev., as part of a renewed search for a Utah mother missing since 2009.

Susan Cox Powell was last seen at her West Valley City home on Dec. 6, 2009.

Police Sgt. Mike Powell says the Saturday search will include clearing and documenting a network of abandoned mines.

Investigators haven’t said what specifically they are looking for.

Susan Cox Powell was 28 and the mother of two young sons when she was reported missing.

Her husband, Joshua Powell says he last saw his wife before leaving on a camping trip with the children on Dec. 7.

Police say Joshua Powell, who now lives near Puyallup, Wash., is a person of interest in the case.
