BUNKER HILL, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana State Police say a 76-year-old assistant Boy Scout leader has been stabbed to death during a hiking trip and a suspect is being held on a murder charge.

Authorities responded to a 911 call Sunday afternoon and found the scout leader, Arthur L. Anderson of Kokomo, Ind., bleeding from the neck. He died at the scene.

Shane C. Golitko, 22, of Bunker Hill, Ind., was arrested after a police chase. Police said Golitko's mother had called 911 earlier to report that her son had attacked her and stabbed two dogs, killing one. Golitko was held without bond in Miami County Jail.

Anderson, another adult male and two boys were hiking the Nickel Plate Trail in Bunker Hill. They'd stopped to identify a tree when the attack happened.
