SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A woman floating down the Willamette River with friends drowned Sunday afternoon after her raft struck a log and capsized.

The Lane County sheriff’s office says deputies and firefighters found a man from the raft who made it to shore. The woman was pinned by debris under water about 25 minutes and could not be revived when firefighters pulled her out.

County Search and Rescue Coordinator John Miller told The Register Guard (http://bit.ly/oc9Dfz ) that 25-year-old Paola Wilkinson of Cottage Grove had a life jacket with her in the raft but was not wearing it at the time of the accident.
