Monday, August 22, 2011
SENDAI, Japan (AP) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has praised the resolve of the Japanese people in their efforts to recover from the tsunami.
Biden said the March 11 disaster was no match for the "legendary industriousness and relentless perseverence of the Japanese people."
He spoke at Sendai airport, which American military personnel helped clear of debris after the earthquake and tsunami that left more than 20,000 dead and missing.
Biden is spending two days in Japan, the third and final stop of an eight-day trip to Asia that included China and Mongolia.
