INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jim Caldwell and Peyton Manning’s teammates aren’t even considering the possibility of Brett Favre coming to town.

Not yet, at least.

One day after team owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter that he was in Hattiesburg, Miss., where the three-time league MVP lives, most players thought Irsay was simply having fun.

Speculation over the Colts’ backup situation has been swirling since Saturday, when Irsay tweeted that Indianapolis must be prepared to start the season without Manning behind center. Later that day, Manning told reporters he would not play in the team’s final two preseason games.

Caldwell did not deny the Colts might sign a veteran free agent. Instead, he says the Colts will try to make improvements with the three other quarterbacks on the roster.
