Infant killed, 3 injured in accident on I-5 near Hazel Dell

A 3-month-old boy was killed and three more were injured in a two-car accident on Interstate 5 near the Main Street exit on Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when an 1999 Acura driven by Christopher A. Roman, 26, of Beaverton lost control and smacked into the median and a second disabled car on the northbound lanes of I-5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

An infant in the disabled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state patrol.

Tera Pina, 21, of Burien was driving the disabled vehicle and was transported to Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center with neck and back pain. Her passenger, Angel A. Pena, 23, of Kent was transported to Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center with a head laceration and an injury to his right leg.

Roman was transported to Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center for multiple lacerations and was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI, according to the state patrol.

Both vehicles were totaled in the incident.
